To determine whether or not your skin is dry as well as the degree of dryness, check the following guidelines:
Skin Feel:
Dry skin feels tight, especially after showering or bathing. You may experience mild to moderate itching. Severe itching indicates very dry skin.
Appearance:
Dry skin often has visible fine lines or cracks, and skin can appear shrunken or dehydrated. The degree of flaking, scaling and peeling can be slight (dry) to severe (very dry). You may also notice some redness.
Texture:
Dry skin will feel rough rather than smooth. Very dry skin feels extremely rough, and can be accompanied by extremely dry patches and/or eczema.
Do you sneeze, itch, or get rashes sometimes — and can't figure out why? Allergens may be the cause.
A PATCH TEST is the only way to precisely and positively determine what you may be allergic to. In patch tests, a medical professional applies small amounts of possible common allergens to the skin on strips of tape, which are removed after two days. A positive allergy test shows up as a small red spot.
